Baba Ramdev will soon have a wax replica at the Madame Tussauds museum of London. Baba Ramdev will be the second saint to be depicted at the notable wax museum after Swami Vivekanand. Madame Tussauds is a major tourist attraction in London, displaying the waxworks of famous and historic people and also popular film characters.

According to Swachh Bharat survey 2018, Jharkhand is the cleanest state in India followed by Maharashtra and Chattisgarh. Among the cities, Indore is the cleanest followed by Bhopal & chandigarh. Tripura was at the bottom of the list of cleanest states, followed by Puducherry, Nagaland and West Bengal. 18 out of 25 dirtiest cities in India with population of over 1 lakh are in West Bengal.

The Maharashtra government has imposed a ban on manufacture, use, sale, distribution and storage of all plastic materials across the state. As per the notification, violators will be fined Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 for the first and second-time offence. With this Maharashtra becomes the 18th state of the country to impose a complete ban on plastic.

Power Ministry has suggested air-conditioner manufacturers to keep default setting at 24°C in a bid to save energy. It has also suggested that manufacturers should carry out labelling indicating optimum temperature setting for benefit of consumers, both from financial & health point of view. Having a default setting at 24°C will result in savings of 20 billion units of electricity in a year.

To foster love for nature & raise awareness about its protection among children, WWF-India has launched its first-ever comic book. ‘The Great Indian Nature Trail with Uncle Bikky’ follows the travels of its protagonists Uncle Bikky, Chunmun and their dog Duggu as they learn about wildlife across India. Book was launched by Bikram Grewal, author and Ravi Singh, Secretary and CEO, WWF-India.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu has announced the opening of the Kannur International Airport Ltd (KIAL) in September in 2018. Kannur aerodome will become the fourth international airport in Kerala. With this, Kerala will be the state with the most number of international airports (4) in the country.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Mundka-Bahardurgarh metro network through a digital video link between PMO and Bahadurgarh. With the opening of the 11.2km Mundka-Bahadurgarh stretch of Green Line, Delhi Metro makes its third foray into Haryana, connecting Bahadurgarh to the heart of Delhi. With the opening of this section, Delhi Metro network will expand to 288 km with 208 stations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the proposal of setting up of a committee to lay down standards for metro rail systems in India. The committee will be headed by retired Indian Engineering Service (IES) officer E Sreedharan, also known as “Metro Man”. Sreedharan served as the managing director of Delhi Metro between 1995 and 2012.

India’s Amit Kumar Saroha has clinched the gold medal in the men’s club throw F51 event at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Tunisia. The wheelchair-bound Indian athlete produced the season’s best performance of 29.42m to bag the gold. Amit Saroha is an Asian Para Games medalist and an Arjuna Awardee, competing in the F51 category in Discus throw and Club throw.

The country has produced minerals worth Rs 1.13 lakh crore in FY18, registering an increase of 13 percent over the previous fiscal. India produced minerals worth Rs 1 lakh crore (provisional) in 2016-17, according to the Annual Report 2017-18 of Ministry of Mines. The estimated value for metallic minerals is Rs 53,029 crore and that of non-metallic minerals, including minor minerals, is Rs 60,512 crore, it said. Union Minister for Mines: Narendra Singh Tomar

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will invest USD 200 million in India’s National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF). The AIIB, in a statement, said the proposal as a “concept” has been approved by the bank and the memorandum of approving the first tranche of USD 100 million is being presented for the Board of Directors’ approval at the 3rd annual meeting going to be held on June 25-June 26 in Mumbai.

Chennai lad R Praggnanandhaa created history on 23rd June as he became the second youngest Grandmaster in the world at 12 years, 10 months and 13 days. Sergey Karjakin of Ukraine had become the youngest Grandmaster at 12 years, seven months back in 1990.R Praggnanandhaa made history by becoming the 2nd youngest chess grandmaster in the world by earning his 3rd GM norm during Gredine Open. Praggnanandhaa who is just 12 years, 10 months and 14 days old is also the youngest Indian Grandmaster. Ukraine’s Serget Karjakin remains the youngest ever Grandmaster. The Gujarat government has launched a solar power scheme for farmers – Suryashakti Kisan Yojana (SKY). Under the scheme farmers would not only be able to generate electricity for their captive consumption but will also be able to sell the surplus power to the grid and earn an extra buck. The extra electricity given to grid would be purchased at a rate of Rs7 per unit for a period of 7 years.
